Tri Elementary will be hosting our first annual school-wide spelling bee on January 19th! Classroom bees were held in grades 3, 4, and 5 at the end of the semester to determine those who will compete at the school-wide bee. Congratulations to those students pictured who qualified for the school-wide bee as classroom champions or runner-up contestants!

We LOVE celebrating good news at Tri Elementary! Each day, teachers and staff may recognize students for going above and beyond in the classroom and surrounding settings. When students are nominated, they receive a special certificate, name call on the announcements, bracelet, and prize! The best part is when students get to share the good news by making a special phone call with Mrs. Hamm to his or her parents/family member of choice! Congrats to these students who were nominated, recognized, and celebrated in the month of December!

Today, we received a plush gingerbread man from a kind 9 year old girl in our community!" The dentist is coming!! ๐Ÿฆท Our school has arranged for a dentist to come right to the school. By seeing the in-school dentist, you can keep your child healthy, in school, and learning. Plus, itโ€™s easy and convenient for you. Simply go to www.myschooldentist.com or fill out and sign the permission form and return it to the school with your child. Paper permission forms are available upon request. If you wish to receive a paper permission form, please contact the school today and ask for one to be sent home with your child.

One of the highlights of this past weekโ€™s staff Professional Learning Days featured a panel of local industry and community partners. The panel was asked questions related to what they need from potential employees and how South Henry can better prepare students for future success. Thank you to New Castle Henry County EDC, the Henry County Community Foundation, Henry Community Health, Draper, and Henry County REMC for the powerful session. We continue to seek ways to blur the lines between PK-12 education and paths to gainful employment as we help students find their Path to Purpose. Great things are happening at South Henry!

REMINDER! State Road 103 will be shut down for reconstruction of the I-70 overpass from today, Nov. 27th, 2023, until approximately April of 2024. There will be no through traffic over the overpass during this time. If you drive or bring your children to school using this route, please give yourself ample time to take county roads. If you ride the bus and live north of the school, your bus driver will contact you if your pick-up or drop-off time will change. We apologize for the inconvenience that this will cause, but please understand that this is completely out of our hands. Go Titans!

South Henry, this is a reminder that this coming Monday & Tuesday are WAIVED school days. On these days, teachers will not have to support student learning and provide asynchronous instruction, and students have no work to complete. We are hopeful that this change will allow you to enjoy time with family around Thanksgiving. Teachers and staff will report on these days for professional development. Student iPads WILL be sent home just in case there is inclement weather the night or morning before returning on Monday, November 27th. Everyone have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving!

This week, South Henry's own Mrs. Stevens and Mr. Duncan had the opportunity to present at the Hoosier Educational Computer Coordinators (HECC) conference in Indianapolis. The conference is the largest technology education conference in Indiana. Not only did they present, they also learned some really awesome things to bring back and share with their friends at Tri. It's awesome to see our little school "on the map" with things happening statewide. Great things are happening at South Henry!
