South Henry Family, We continue to have regular issues with our phone connectivity. I truly apologize for any inconvenience this has caused, and I thank you for your grace and understanding as we are at the mercy of our providers. Please know that we are taking every possible step to find alternate service possibilities. Until that time, please continue to utilize alternate means of communication during outages as disseminated by our school offices. Mr. Jeremy Duncan, Superintendent

Cheer sign ups
South Henry Parents & Guardians, The 2023-2024 school year is off to an awesome start! We have had some questions about Free/Reduced Lunch Applications. To apply, paper applications can be found in each of our offices, or you may use the online application found at: www.MySchoolApps.com. Only one application should be filled out per family, regardless of how many children you have in school. If we have a parent email on file for you, you will be notified through email the status of the application. If not, a letter will be mailed to you. If completing a paper form, please sign and date the back of the application. Go Titans!

IMPORTANT SCHOOL BUS SAFETY INFORMATION With school back in full swing, it means that South Henry buses are out on the roads of Henry County. This is a friendly reminder to help keep our students safe. In Indiana, it's illegal for drivers to pass a stopped school bus that has its red lights flashing and stop-arm extended. This applies to all roads except for motorists on a highway that is divided by a barrier, such as a concrete wall or grassy median. This can become confusing for motorists, particularly in times of construction such as what is happening on US40. Please note that traffic cones or barrels such as seen many places on US40 do not designate a divided highway and motorists, moving in both directions, should still stop for flashing lights and stop arms. While this can be confusing, it is always best to err on the side of caution for the safety of our students. South Henry School Corporation buses are equipped with stop arm cameras. Those who illegally pass a stopped school bus will be held accountable. Tickets have and will continue to be written, and individuals will be referred to the Henry County Prosecutor's Office. Violators could pay a fine of up to $10,000 or have their license suspended for up to 90 days for the first offense or up to a year for the second. We thank you for your continued help and support as we strive to protect our most precious assets...our children. Mr. Jeremy Duncan Superintendent, South Henry School Corporation INDOT Guidelines Two-Lane Roadways If a school bus stops on a two lane road and the red flashing lights are activated and the stop arm is extended, all motorists MUST stop. Multi-Lane Roadways with NO Barrier between Lanes When a school bus stops on a multi-lane roadway without a barrier and the red flashing lights are activated and the stop arm is extended, all motorists MUST stop. Multi-Lane Roadway with a Grassy and/or Concrete Barrier When a school bus stops and the red flashing lights are activated and the stop arm is extended, only vehicles behind the bus MUST stop. Vehicles that are approaching from the opposite side are NOT required to stop.

There are so many awesome groups of people who make South Henry a special place to be. One of those groups is our bus drivers. They are the first and last smiling faces our children see each day as they transport our kids to and from school safely. Often times, their days begin before the sun rises. Here is a beautiful photo taken from Niki Kingery’s bus this morning as she made her morning route. We are grateful for Niki and all of our bus drivers! Great things are happening at South Henry!

Welcome
A message from principal, Mrs. Hamm: Hello TES Families! This is a friendly reminder that we will be hosting Back-to-School Night tomorrow, Wednesday, August 2nd from 5:00-6:30 pm. This is a "come & go" style open house, so feel free to stay as long or as little as you'd like during this time frame. A few other reminders: Parking: Parking will be tight! As we model for our students and children, please practice patience as we seek to accommodate for all of those in attendance. Feel free to park along the sidewalk and use the high school parking lot if necessary. School Supply Drop-Off: You may use this time to bring your child's school supplies if you wish! Each teacher will have designated locations and instructions. Meet Your Teacher: This event will be a truly wonderful opportunity to meet your child's teacher and introduce yourself. They have been eagerly preparing for your arrival over the summer! With such a brief window of time, please be mindful of allowing your child's teacher to circulate with other families as well. We welcome you to set up a separate parent conference if you feel the need to share more in-depth information with your child's teacher. We are fully anticipating a wonderful Back-to-School Night event and look forward to seeing you soon! -Mrs. Hamm, Principal

At the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, our PLTW program received a grant that was able to purchase a Breakout EDU account and materials for each grade in our elementary. What is Breakout EDU? If you’ve ever been to an escape room, you know that you are “locked” in a room with clues to solve. Breakout EDU is very similar, but can be used in the classroom! Why Breakout EDU? “Increased Engagement Means Deeper Learning. At Breakout EDU, we believe that constructive challenges build engaged and capable learners. With our library of standards-aligned games, educators can create a learner-centered experience that allows students to work together, think conceptually, and utilize prior knowledge for deeper comprehension. Once you experience a Breakout EDU game, you'll see why our games are the key to unlocking the love of learning.” -Breakout EDU Website We are looking forward to another year with breakout games! 🔐

Tri Elementary is very proud to be one-to-one with iPads from grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. ✨ More than half of our Elementary teachers have earned Apple Teacher status, and more are on the way! Not only that, but our staff is lead by a Tech Integration Specialist who is an Apple Teacher, Apple Learning Coach, and an Apple Distinguished Educator. Our teachers have participated in professional development trainings in order to learn how to use technology to enhance student engagement and achievement. 🏆 Students have the opportunity to practice all of their skills multiple times a day. The programs used in the classroom are set to each students' level, so they are challenged in what they are currently learning. Teachers can also assign assignments that students can complete, so that teachers get immediate results. ✅ We are so grateful that our students have the opportunity to learn with technology, and that our teachers are skilled and passionate! 🍎

Did you know that your TES staff participated in a 2 day training during their summer? We are elated to announce that ALL of our returning teachers at TES and most of our office and support staff are now trained in TBRI. What is TBRI? “TBRI® is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI® uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. While the intervention is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research, the heartbeat of TBRI® is connection.” Dr. Karyn Purvis Dr. Karyn Purvis also believes that “When you connect to the heart of a child, everything is possible.” At Tri Elementary, we never want to stop learning. We will be using the practices and tools that we learned during TBRI training to better connect with our students. Thank you, teachers and staff, for spending time out of your summer to better equip yourselves! The 2023-2024 school year will be another amazing year at TES, where it is always a great day to be a Titan. Image used from TBRI website: https://child.tcu.edu/tbritic/

Happy Monday, Titan families! This is just a friendly reminder to download the Bloomz app onto your personal device or phone. Tri Elementary uses this app for all of our communication. You can email your child’s teacher, get updates from our secretary, and see posts from our principal. Some teachers may even track student behavior where you can view how they are doing throughout the day. You can also sign up for class donations, events, etc. Once you have the app downloaded and an account created, don’t worry about joining a classroom, yet! Your child’s teacher will have invitations to join their classroom on back to school night or the first day of school. Here is a link that you can use to join Bloomz for your convenience. This link also takes you to their website where you can search any questions that you may have! 💻 Thanks in advance! https://www.bloomz.com/parents
