In the fall of 1969, students from Lewisville, Spiceland, Straughn and the surrounding communities came together in the consolidated school district known as South Henry School Coporation.  Grades 1-12 attended Tri Elementary and Tri Jr.-Sr. High School at the newly opened school complex on State Road 103 north of Lewisville.  Opened one academic year later than planned, Stingers, Bears and Indians from the three high schools had already been playing together under the Titan mascot during the 1968-69 year.  Yearbooks for 1969 from the three schools show this unique arrangement in the athletic pages.

Those students who remember the first days at Tri High recall that the final details of construction were still underway as classes started.  One of the most mentioned details concerned the holes in the walls where lockers were installed later in the year.  Students in grades 7-12 piled their books and other belongings in these blank cubbyholes as they learned their way around the new building.  But that was only a minor inconvenience as we went about making new friends of our former rivals.
